Aydın Biçen
Aydın Biçen, born in Batman in 1987, graduated from the Painting Education Department at Dicle University. While continuing his teaching profession, he has consistently maintained his artistic production, deepening his practice within a theoretical framework through the thesis he completed in 2023.
Biçen’s art addresses social realities through a figurative language. The traumas, uncertainties, and search for hope experienced by children affected by war stand at the center of his work. The narratives he constructs through figures point to a collective memory through individual stories.
Shaped by a powerful combination of expressionism and symbolism, his works employ strong color use and layered surfaces to create both visual and emotional depth. Biçen invites the viewer not only to see, but also to feel and question.
Continuing his work in his studio in Diyarbakır, the artist establishes a highly socially conscious field of expression within contemporary art practice.
In the artist’s own words:
“For me, art is a way of making the invisible visible.”
