Beklan Kızılçay
Artist

Beklan Kızılçay

Beklan Kızılçay, born in Istanbul in 1968, graduated from the Ceramics Department of Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts in 1993. The understanding of form and plastic values he gained through his ceramics education forms the foundation of the compositions in his paintings.

Active since the 1990s, the artist combines figurative expression with surreal and supernatural elements. Through his use of perspective and depth, he constructs a permeable space between reality and dream, inviting the viewer into a mental and emotional experience.

Themes such as narcissism, ego, the relationship between human and nature, and social interactions stand out in his work. By positioning his figures and objects within a timeless and placeless universe, he creates a narrative that is both individual and universal.

The artist has participated in international platforms, exhibiting his works at the 2018 Parallax Art Fair and the 2019 Art Stage Singapore, and held his first solo exhibition in 2018. He continues to work in his studio in Istanbul.

“My paintings are a timeless dreamscape where the soul is liberated, stripped away from the ambitions and conflicts of contemporary civilization.”

Kızılçay invites the viewer into a timeless visual narrative through the balance he establishes between reality and dream.
