Cem Kebenç
Cem Kebenç, born in Malatya in 1990, studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Süleyman Demirel University. The foundations of his artistic practice were shaped during his childhood in the studio of his father, the painter Hüseyin Kebenç; he later transformed this experience into a distinctive pictorial language through a contemporary approach.
His art focuses on social observation and the dynamics of everyday life through figurative painting. Street culture, neighborhood life, and the inner world of the individual are among his main themes. The controlled exaggeration in his figures brings together humor, critique, and empathy, establishing a strong connection with the viewer.
Focusing on characters who are often rendered invisible, the artist constructs a layered narrative of both individual and collective identity through these figures. In this sense, his works function as a visual archive of social reality.
Having participated in various group exhibitions throughout his career, Kebenç continues his production through the expressive power of the figure. His strong command of drawing, character-driven narratives, and emotional intensity stand out in his works.
“Human stories are what nourish me the most. In my paintings, I aim to make the invisible visible and to reveal the depth within lives that seem ordinary.”
In contemporary Turkish painting, he stands out with his character-focused works that combine figurative expression with social observation and individual sensitivity.
