Murat Tolga
Murat Tolga, born in Istanbul in 1966, graduated from the Painting Department of Marmara University in 1990. He began his career in graphic design, later turning to painting and concentrating his practice in this field.
Adopting a figurative language, Tolga explores themes such as irony, loneliness, and the inner world through human and animal figures. The narratives he constructs—particularly through animal figures—create emotional and intellectual depth in his work.
With an experimental and research-driven approach, the artist continuously develops an evolving visual language, establishing a sincere and balanced field of expression between reality and interpretation.
A member of the International Association of Plastic Artists (U.P.S.D.), Tolga continues his work in his studio in Caddebostan, Istanbul.
In the artist’s own words:
“My figures are a direct reflection of my inner experiences and observations.”
Murat Tolga holds a place in contemporary Turkish painting with his distinctive works that approach figurative expression from an experimental perspective.
