Mustafa Özkan

Prof. Mustafa Özkan, born in 1959, graduated from the Painting Department of Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Fine Arts. Having contributed to the education of many artists through his long academic career, he has sustained his academic discipline alongside his artistic production. He stands out in contemporary Turkish painting with his nature-oriented approach.

His work is shaped along the axis of figurative painting and landscape, interpreting the light, atmosphere, and rhythm of nature through a strong sense of composition. Balanced use of light and shadow, along with atmospheric depth, creates an impressionistic and lyrical expression that reflects the tranquility of the Aegean region.

In his works, nature is not only a field of observation but also a visual counterpart of inner balance and serenity. The effect of light on the surface and the atmosphere of space create a poetic depth in his compositions.

Having participated in numerous exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad, the artist has received various awards, and his works are included in important collections. He continues to play an active role in the art world through academic and jury positions.
