Mustafa Tuğrul
Mustafa Tuğrul, born in Mersin in 1996, completed his education at Siirt Takasbank Fine Arts High School and then studied Painting Education at Anadolu University. He later graduated top of his class from the Sculpture Department of the same university. Currently pursuing his master’s degree, the artist continues his academic and artistic production simultaneously.
Tuğrul’s practice is shaped at the intersection of figurative and mechanical forms. Working with industrial waste and recycled materials, he creates a strong contrast by bringing together the hardness of metal and the fragility of the human figure.
His works question the relationship between the mechanized structure of the modern world and human nature; through fragmented and transforming surfaces, he offers the viewer both a physical and conceptual experience.
Having participated in solo and group exhibitions, Tuğrul adopts an experimental and research-driven approach within contemporary sculpture practice.
In the artist’s own words:
“I try to give new identity to materials without erasing their past.”
