Ömer Faruk Erdoğan
Ömer Faruk Erdoğan, born in Istanbul in 1987, graduated from the Painting Department of Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts. Combining his academic discipline with a strong command of drawing, he approaches urban landscape and figurative expression from a modern perspective.
His practice brings together traditional oil painting techniques with a graphic and architectural approach. Bird’s-eye and panoramic perspectives, strong light–shadow contrasts, and detailed spatial constructions stand out in his work. The relationship between architectural order and the fragility of the human figure forms the basis of his visual language.
Using perspective as a carrier of narrative, the artist creates a contrast between the depth of space and the inner world of the individual in his expansive urban compositions, making urban loneliness visible.
Urban transformation, memory, and the rhythm of modern life are key elements in his work; Istanbul appears in his paintings both as a stage and as a character.
“I see the city as a whole of lines, and the human as the most sensitive point between those lines.”
Continuing his practice in Istanbul, Erdoğan stands out with a language that combines architectural and figurative expression.
