Serdar Leblebici
Serdar Leblebici, born in Izmir in 1961, graduated in 1984 from the Department of Textile Design at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Fine Arts. In his early years, he developed his painterly language by working with the artist Yavuz Seçkin.
Having held thirty-one solo exhibitions, the artist has also participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions. A member of SNBA (Paris) and Alarmart, Leblebici was awarded the Bronze Medal in 2006, the Silver Medal in 2011, and the Gold Medal in 2015. He also received the Grand Prize at the 2013 Monastir International Festival of Plastic Arts in Tunisia.
His works are included in various embassy collections—particularly in Abuja and Ulaanbaatar—within the scope of projects by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between 2009 and 2019, the artist was represented in Paris by Galerie L’Amour de L’Art.
Leblebici’s artistic practice is built upon a layered expression based on the relationship between color, texture, and surface. The balance he establishes between figuration and abstraction creates both visual and emotional depth in his works; the movement across the surface and transitions of color invite the viewer into a multilayered reading.
“In my paintings, color and surface are not merely tools; they are the direct expression of thought and emotion. Through the relationships I construct between layers, I strive to make the invisible felt.”
The artist continues his work in Izmir, establishing a strong presence in contemporary Turkish painting through a language that merges figurative and abstract expression.
