Süleyman Saim Tekcan
Prof. Süleyman Saim Tekcan, born in Trabzon in 1940, is one of the pioneering figures of contemporary Turkish art. He studied at Ankara Gazi Education Institute and the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts, and later specialized in printmaking techniques in Germany. He served as dean at Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts and as founding dean at Işık University.
An important contributor to the development of printmaking in Turkey, the artist founded IMOGA – Istanbul Museum of Graphic Arts in 2004. He produces works using various techniques, particularly engraving, lithography, and serigraphy.
In his works, he combines Anatolian, Seljuk, and Ottoman motifs with a universal aesthetic. Horse figures, in particular, stand out as symbols of movement and power.
His works are included in major collections such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum, and he has been honored with numerous prestigious awards.
